Pregnancy week 3
Your baby this week
This is the week when fertilization may actually take place. When sperm meets egg, they form a single cell that already holds all the genetic information, including your baby's sex and eye color. This tiny cell begins dividing rapidly as it travels through the fallopian tube toward the uterus. It is the astonishing beginning of a new life, even though you likely feel nothing yet.
Your body this week
You will most likely feel no changes this week, since everything is happening at a microscopic level. A few women notice very light spotting when implantation occurs a little later. Do not expect obvious symptoms yet, as it is still very early.
Tips for this week
Keep caring for yourself as if you were already pregnant, from folic acid to nourishing meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking and limit caffeine as a precaution. Be kind to yourself and rest, since you will soon be able to take a pregnancy test.
